History of the project

On March 4, 2022, the Ukrainian NGO “Great Idea” represented by Natalia Popova and the Israeli non-profit organization «Israeli Friends of Ukraine» represented by Vyacheslav Feldman, launched a civic initiative to receive humanitarian aid from Israel – the “MARLOG” project in Kovel, Volyn Oblast (located near the Polish border in Western Ukraine, close to a major railway station).

“MARLOG” consists of 12 separate teams and 28 coordinators working in specific areas. It involves over 100 regular volunteers and 4 active teams. Currently, “MARLOG” receives assistance from 36 partners from 12 countries worldwide and implements 21 social projects in collaboration with philanthropists. In its 10 months of existence, the MARLOG Center has established strong connections with 12 powerful civic initiatives from the front-line zones in the east and south of Ukraine and successfully collaborated with 160 civic organizations and charitable foundations in various regions.

Main goals:

Transparently and officially accept humanitarian cargo from foreign philanthropists by the civic organization initiative “MARLOG” and promptly deliver it to the intended recipients in every corner of Ukraine, according to an official request, with reporting.

Priority is given to hotspots.
– Implement socially significant projects and initiatives to help people and contribute to the development of society in response to the challenges of the war.

“MARLOG” was awarded the “Golden Heart” award by the President of Ukraine
The public initiative “MARLOG” has been honored with the “Golden Heart” award by the President of Ukraine and was mentioned by the President in December 2022 as one of the 50 most powerful humanitarian hubs in Ukraine. Our volunteers have also been recognized with certificates and acknowledgments from military units, the Volyn Regional Council, the Kovel City Council, and the district military administration.
MARLOG is a group of people, united by a mission to help the state overcome the aggressor.

Co-founders of the MARLOG project in Volyn:

  • NGO “Great Idea” – led by Lyudmila Zubareva (administration, legal and accounting support for the initiative, networking with partner organizations, grant funding acquisition, support for youth volunteering development).
  • NGO “Volynska Sich” – led by Sergii Druzhynovych (humanitarian aid to the military, patriotic education of youth, military training and education).
  • NGO “Warm the Soul” – led by Anna Lysakova (work with veterans and war-affected individuals: families of fallen soldiers, prisoners of war, and the wounded; psychological rehabilitation).
  • NGO “UAZZ ‘MARLOG-KADUTSEY'” – led by Oksana Artemuk (medical humanitarian aid for hospitals, tactical medicine for the military, assistance to the wounded).
  • NGO “EuroFuture NGO”  – led by Inna Polishchuk (communication with international donors and volunteers, educational projects for children and youth, socially significant children’s initiatives, filling foreign libraries with Ukrainian literature).
  • NGO “Association of People with Hidden Needs” – led by Natalia Antonenko (humanitarian aid for people with disabilities, children of fallen soldiers, and the military).
  • Volunteer lawyer Liudmila Sevruk (legal consultations).
  • Volunteer at Lutsk Hospital Natalia Aryvaniuk (assistance to military hospitals and injured soldiers).

In numbers:

Number of received foreign cargoes: over 650 tons

Number of dispatched cargoes, according to official requests, during the 10 months of the war in 2022: over 950

Number of dispatched targeted parcels to aid people in the front-line regions: over 1,100

Number of individuals who received assistance in various regions of Ukraine: 270,000

Implemented projects:

  1. During the 10 months of the center’s operation since its foundation in 2022, she fully provided administration, legal and accounting support for the initiative, established networking processes with partner organizations, attracted grant funding, and contributed to the development of youth volunteerism in wartime conditions.
  2. 2023 – NGO “Big Idea” is a member of a network of public organizations with 12 NGOs/BFs in 7 regions of Ukraine.
  3. “Volunteer Team Building”: Regular events aimed at strengthening the team of MARLOG volunteers and preventing emotional burnout.
  4. “MARLOG KIT”: Collection of food and hygiene kits for residents in the de-occupied territories of Ukraine (Kharkiv and Kherson regions). Over 5 tons of aid have been collected.
  5. “MARLOG-Car”: MARLOG car unit visits local supermarkets in Kovel with an initiative to collect food and hygiene products from caring residents of the city.
  6. “Blagofest Festival”: Involvement of Kovel residents in public activities and assistance to Ukrainians in the conditions of war.
  7. “Step to Success” Project: Aid provided to people who have been forced to relocate to Kovel from battle zones.
  8. “Santa Claus, Hear Me”: A project aimed at providing assistance to children of the deceased and internally displaced children. Over 90 gifts were collected for children whose families have lost parents or have been forced to leave their homes due to the war.

All projects were implemented by the NGO Great Idea, as part of the Public Initiative of the International Volunteer Logistics Center "MARLOG"
